Understand and manage AI connections
Review household consent, read and change permissions, and how to revoke an AI connection.
Overview
An approved AI connection lets a compatible application request supported Novice Money information for the household selected during consent. The provider receives information under its own data policies. A connection is not permission to read every household you belong to or another member's private information.
Understand permissions
Read access can include accounts, balances, transactions, schedules, Cash Flow, budgets, category spending, and debt estimates. Transaction memos, private profile information, and bank credentials are excluded from the financial read results.
Split purchases include their category amounts, but allocation notes remain private like transaction memos. Create, revise, or remove splits in the transaction editor, not through AI commands. Supported date, payee, and status changes preserve existing splits; amount or category changes that could flatten a split are rejected. Existing connections do not need new permission just to remain compatible.
Existing read-only connections do not automatically gain change permissions. A client must request those permissions, and you must explicitly select Allow financial changes during authorization. Current household permissions still apply: Viewers cannot make financial changes. Enabling changes on one connection does not upgrade another.
Supported changes are not bank payments. Financial-data erasure, backup restoration, and household administration are not authorized by that checkbox.
Review requests before changes
Simple, unambiguous supported requests can execute directly after your explicit instruction. Higher-impact requests, such as budget or schedule changes and imports, return a proposal for your acknowledgement. Review the account, dates, amounts, and scope before agreeing.
An internal backup still requires your explicit request and Owner permissions. Do not assume an AI will create one automatically. Import review can expose bank descriptions and alias patterns needed for mapping; avoid putting sensitive information into requests unnecessarily.
Review or revoke a connection
Open AI connections to review your connections, their households, status, and last use. Select Revoke connection and confirm to block future requests. Information already shared with the provider cannot be recalled by revocation.
Household Owners manage household AI access and household grants from Households. Your personal connection list is not another member's private request history.
Troubleshooting
Check the selected household, current role, household AI-access policy, and connection status. A renewed read-only connection remains read-only. Client setup and availability vary; these permissions do not promise that every AI application supports connecting or making changes.
