Compare your money-planning options
A Monarch Money alternative for cash-flow planning
Looking for an online personal finance app that starts with the days ahead? Novice Money brings your register, recurring bills and category budgets into a daily balance timeline.
Start with what is left after the next bill
Your current checking balance does not tell you everything about next week. Cash Flow combines recorded transactions with scheduled income and bills so you can see when money may be tight. Turn on budgets to compare that balance with what remains after planned category spending.

Keep a familiar online register
Enter transactions quickly, categorize spending, move money between recorded accounts and reconcile against a statement. Import bank CSV files and reuse payee alias patterns instead of retyping descriptions.
Plan bills and category budgets together
Set recurring dates for bills and paychecks. Reserve room for groceries, utilities or personal care with category budgets, without adding imaginary ledger transactions.
Share the household plan
Invite a partner or household member with their own login. Owner, Editor and Viewer roles control who can manage access, edit financial records or simply review the same household picture.
Explore debt payoff
Link recurring payments to debts, compare Debt Snowball strategies and review estimated interest and payoff timing. Check balances against your lender when you want to bring the plan up to date.
One important difference: bank connections
Monarch offers linked financial accounts, budgeting and household collaboration. Novice Money currently uses manual entry and bank CSV imports; automatic bank connections are planned, not available today. If automatic bank syncing is essential, weigh that difference before choosing.
Comparison reviewed October 18, 2026 using Monarch's official product information. Novice Money is an independent Novice Acres Systems application, not affiliated with or endorsed by Monarch Money.
Try it while we build it with testers
Novice Money is free during testing and development. People who contribute to testing and quality assurance will be gifted free long-term use; registration alone does not qualify.
