Understand Cash Flow
Read daily projected balances and inspect the transactions and schedules behind them.
Overview
Cash Flow combines recorded account activity with scheduled activity to show a daily balance. It helps you see when expected money in and money out could leave a low balance. A projection depends on the entries and schedules you have supplied, not live bank confirmation.
Review a period
- Select the account and Time period.
- For a custom period, enter From and Through, then choose Apply.
- Inspect the lowest daily balance and select a day to see its values.
- Use Filter to selected day to narrow the Transactions list. Clear that selection or search to see more rows.
- Turn Show budgets on or off to compare the balance with the separate budget-adjusted view.
Read the balance
Each plotted daily balance is the closing balance after that day's included movements. The transaction rows explain those movements, including future-dated ledger entries and unentered scheduled occurrences. A linked entered occurrence is not also treated as another unentered payment.
The dashed After budgets line subtracts unused budget reserves. It does not replace the normal balance or add withdrawals to your Ledger. See the worked budget reserve example.
Edit a split purchase
Editing a recorded purchase from Cash Flow opens the same transaction editor as the Ledger, including its complete split amounts and notes. Splitting a purchase does not create additional cash movements. See Split a purchase for supported entries and exact-total validation. Unentered scheduled occurrences remain single-category entries.
Why an old bill appears today
An active, earlier scheduled occurrence that has not been entered or skipped can be carried onto today in the projection. This keeps an unresolved expectation visible. It is not proof that a payment was missed at the bank.
Review the schedule and your records. Do not enter a duplicate merely to remove the warning. Use the appropriate occurrence action after checking whether the item was already recorded.
